Biography

JUN-JUN CAMBE, Manila’s Prince of AVANT GARDE fashion whose fashion dictum is to CREATE, INNOVATE and DICTATE. The leader of the pack in Avant Garde styling for the youthful gen ex and neo-classicism for the well-heeled ladies of the metropolis. Course in Fine Arts at the Pontifical University of Santo Tomas was a hands down choice and later took up fashion design in the US. In 1976, he worked for a company that specialized in Denims, in Hong Kong. In 1977 to 1979, he was commissioned to design under his own label in Singapore for Chinatown Co. and from 1980 to 1981, he worked for KIM, a garment company in Los Angeles California that specialize in linen & leather, brand name BE-DI BELL of Beverly Hills and a six-month stint as a consultant for the Anne Klein line of Jourdan Et Cie. In 1982 to 1984 he worked for different fashion houses in Beverly Hills. In 1985 he put up his own Boutique in Santa Monica California. From then till the present, he has been a consultant of big garment companies in the Philippines. In no time, CAMBE’s career hit high ground. In 1999 Mattel launched his very own collector’s edition of Angel Barbie, three of which are sold in all leading toy stores and department stores all over the world and Barbie’s high fashion collection are sold in auctions. Cambe consistently campaigns for a look way ahead of his time. His gala shows here and abroad always drew fashionable crowd that included the biggest names in the world of fashion, entertainment, political and social arena. In 1997 he received a special recognition award from the 1st FILIPINO FASHION ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS for CAMBE COUTURE ’96. A reflection of his designing acceptability by a wide range of social strata, from JUN-JUN CAMBE, LOGGIO FOR MEN, BAT-ZU of Beverly Hills and CAMBE COUTURE.
