Story

I graduated from the De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde with the degree in Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design and Merchandising. Initially, my first choice was to Major in my passion which is in Dancing but, upon seeing as how their curriculum revolved around ballet, I was taken aback since I had no background in this form of dance. I was pushed to explore other degrees offered by the colleges. Which ultimately, led me to Fashion Designing.

One of the reasons why I chose this degree was for self-improvement. I saw it as a way to enhance my clothing style, improve my self-expression and vocalize my persona. Stepping into this industry gave me a ground to discover friends, talents and amazing people. I found the classes and professors very edifying and inspiring.

One of the most unforgettable milestones in my early career is creating my first collection. It was called “Accent” initiated as a class project. This collection opened new opportunities for a college student like me. I was invited to do a collaboration at school for a photoshoot and a fashion show. I saw this collection as the starting point of my fashion career because celebrity stylists began to notice my work.

After college, we started our small ready-to-wear clothing line business together with my close friends. To be quite honest, we ended up earning less than expected, but this business allowed us to grow more, aspiring us to achieve more. We decided to part ways for self-growth thus, closing our business. I received an offer from GMA network as a costume designer/stylist. They needed two for an upcoming show which gave me another new experience in the professional industry. I was happy to accept the offer and started working at the said network. I was able to expand my connections and got to know a lot of people in the field. However, something in me was searching for something else. I wanted to grow more.

After that project/show, I started my own design studio and the rest is history. I met many different kinds of people, clients with different personalities and I learned so many things. When the pandemic came in such a surprise. The fashion industry has been greatly impacted by the virus, the road for us got rough. Many of us decided to slow down and temporarily hold work. I know that there will always be tough times, but I believe that God will always provide your needs. You just have to lift it up to Him and everything will be fine.

I believe that after Covid-19, fashion will evolve again. It will be a new challenge to our industry. But, fashion will survive one way or another.
